Getting it Done - Amazing life management and action systems

If you know me, it's no secret that I have an ever-passion for learning new methods that can make one happier while accomplishing our goals...

One of the most effective systems that I've found is David Allen's Getting Things Done (GTD). Well, GTD is a big deal...you can find even Apps on Android and iOS around this system. It takes Franklin Covey to a new level!  It helps any person become an action-machine!

The basic premise is the process of:  Capture (notes/emails/thoughts) -> Corralling -> Defining/Parking in the right place so that at the right time and in the right context (or place) it'll trigger the next action. At least that's the high level. For example, what good is it for me to remember to email an old colleague while I'm in the middle of my jog? Well, with GTD I could tell Siri to set the reminder but not time based; just context based! Meaning next time I'm in front of any of my devices where I can create emails, it will get done...frees the mind and that allows for the brain-power to focus on creativity. A yet, even more phenomenal way to execute against this system, is that with all the cloud-based software choices; it makes it that much easier to have our "lists" everywhere we go. I personally like Google Calendar/Contacts/Tasks...they sync directly with my iOS devices or I can pull them up anywhere there's an internet connection...Evernote is also a great App and content platform where to park reference material and even Action Lists!

So when you look at my Task List, you'll see it is organized by: Agenda (things to talk with other people about) | Calls | Computer (something I can't do on the go or for projects that don't require me to be online) | DIHBF (Did I hear back from) | Errands | iPhone | Online | Projects, etc. That's what will make the most difference, the context aspect - so that when I'm at the airport I can quickly glance at either the people I need to call or things I can do on my iPhone and get them done right then and there. Then when I'm in the air (and say without internet) then I can go to my Computer list and get some offline actions done.

This is just a high level summary where I'd like to get you interested in checking out the GTD books.  Per its sub-title "The Art of Stressless Productivity", that's a worthy, and really a proven, promise.

Let's go live our wonderful lives while Getting Things Done!
